I feel like I’m on an organizing roll and it feels sooo good to be finally managing the things in our home.
I think there is something truly liberating about knowing exactly where things are and how to put them away after use. Before we just kinda shoved things where there was space and called it a day.
So my kitchen organization started of with the under sink drawer which had managed to start looking chaotic again. You can read about all that here or watch the video linked on that page.
I then did the rest of the kitchen – especially all the spices which kinda looked neglected in one corner on our countertop. You can watch the YouTube Video here.
I then tackled the fridge, and I have to say I never thought I would love opening the fridge this much. Whilst fridge contents largely differ, I’ll breakdown how we did organized our so you can use some bit of inspiration.
Vegetables
In the large drawer at the bottom, we packed all the vegetables in there. That’s where they’re meant to be stored anyways because that drawer has a misting feature which keeps the vegetables fresh supposedly. But I went to store all the long vegetables in long containers like cucumbers, carrots and zucchini. The rest of the vegetables (peppers, aubergines) are in a separate container and finally the cherry tomatoes are in a smaller box too. Anything else just gets stuffed in there like broccoli or cabbage.
Smoothies
Since we are really into smoothies at the moment, we have a shelf of all the smoothie ingredients- The strawberries, blueberries and grapes all have separate containers which fit just the right amount according to how they come packaged. The yoghurts are packed besides these fruits. It’s really been easier to make a smoothie lately without scavenging the whole fridge for ingredients. On this shelf, we also have a big box container with spinach. Since my fav smoothie is avocado, spinach and banana, I always have a loooot of spinach on hand.
Sandwich condiments
On the next shelf we keep all the sandwich making related stuff. Think cheese slices, butter, eggs, salmon, fresh cheese etc. The only thing in a proper container here are the eggs, the rest stays in the store bought packaging. Please remind me that I need a container for the butter though. So not classy to store it in the paper right (lools).
Sauces
Lastly, we took away most of the sauces that stayed on the fridge door and put it into a lazy Susan on the last shelf. This works really well because since it spins, we can easily access things on it. The only down side is that some taller sauce bottles don’t fit there and moving the lazy Susan is not an option. So we store these on the fridge door shelves.
Milk and beverages
Any other beverages which we have like milk, beer or soda stays on the fridge door shelves.
So far, everything has been working well except for the spinach which stay in an open box container. It shrivels way too fast and ends up looking really sad. I figured I have to get a container for this box. If you would like similar fridge organization container, you can get them here and the lazy Susan here.
