We bought the IKEA Soderhamn sofa a few months ago. I was recently asked what my opinion on the sofa is, you asked and you got it! What are we loving? Which colour did we pick? Is it easy to clean? All information is well detailed below.
5 reasons why we’re loving the IKEA Soderhamn Sofa
- Price
I have to admit, this was the major reason why we ended up getting this particular sofa to begin with. I had very high must-haves for the sofa I wanted, but unfortunately, I have an expensive taste without a wallet to support it. Inevitably I had to dial down my wants. With a starting point of 220 euro for the one-seater, the Soderhamn climbed up my list.
- Customisation
I wanted a white couch. But who knew affordable good looking white couches were hard to come by? I saw a lot of beige and grey sofas, the dimensions and price were great but not the colour. On the contrary, the Soderhamn couch has a lot of colour options plus you can switch out the legs, how handy! The sofa is available in various size options :
3-seat sofa
4-seat sofa
1-seat section
Chaise lounge
Corner section
All of the Soderhamn sofa sections can be further customized with Soderhamn armrests. The ultimate Soderhamn sofa is a 6-seat design, highly useful as a corner sofa for families.
- IKEA Return Policy
What’s not to love about the IKEA return policy? We love how their customer service is great. If we ever encountered a problem with the sofa in the first year, we can simply return it. The sofa also comes with a five-year guarantee, perfect huh.
- Easy Assembling
Out of all the Ikea furniture, we have assembled, trust me we’ve had a good share, this sofa is definitely the easiest. It got a little tricky with fitting the covers but we figured it out and so can you!
- Cleaning
The colour we have is Finnsta white and the material is a mixture of cotton and polyester. We’ve had some spilt beverages on the sofa but each time I managed to get it out. I simply spot clean with a cloth with Domestos. One time I split red wine on the sofa and I had to throw the cover in the washing machine, came out perfectly clean. The best part is the material doesn’t look scruffed or clumped as other sofa covers out there.
Why you should look for an alternative
The only reason why this isn’t an ultimate love story is that personally, I don’t find the Soderhamn sofa to be very comfortable. It has a deep seat so it would be great for very tall folks. But the combination of the low and deep seats makes it uncomfortable especially when watching tv. I’ve seen, though, a hack for this with people adding extra cushions under the cover. I haven’t tried it so I don’t know how effective this solution would be.
